I have parrots at home, unfortunately; also the mice and rats, because the bush is not far away, was always my big concern for the welfare of the parrots. But I have learned that rats hate a cat litter smell, urine. That is the main odour they keep away from at all times. Also peppermint, spearmint and citronella oil is an excellent way for keeping them away, as rats are allergic to it. Therefore who ever has on the roof or around the house, maybe just use the above example, and the silent killers will catch them eventually.
